This is the initial paperwork that is emailed to you. It includes the medical history of your child; this is one of the most important sections to fill out entirely to ensure an accurate medical background and thorough evaluation. Our SLPs review your paperwork BEFORE meeting you for the evaluation. Please note that your appointment may be cancelled if your paperwork has not been turned in prior to your appointment.
-
This step involves administration of the standardized assessment of the SLP’s choice. This is based on your responses to the initial intake paperwork regarding your child’s commmunication concerns.
-
The BEST part: you can begin therapy! The first 4 sessions are reserved for establishing the 3 R’s: rapport, routine, and rules. Once they know each other, therapy sessions range in variety and structure, tailored to your child’s preferences.
-
We encourage parents to regularly communicate with their child’s SLP about their progress, goals, home carryover activities, and educational handouts. Parent sessions may also be offered, in which parents may sit-in for demonstration and education.

Language Evaluation
This is an evaluation of expressive (verbal) and receptive (comprehension) language skills only. It will include social/pragmatics skills if necessary. The cost includes the time it takes for the SLP to gather a case history, evaluate the child, write a report, and also includes a 20-minute 1:1 session with the caregivers to discuss evaluation results, diagnosis, and recommendations.
AAC Evaluation
This is an extensive 6-month evaluation of the client’s ability to use a speech-generating device to communicate with intent. The SLP will use a variety of vocabulary programs, devices, and symbols over the span of a 3-month time frame.
The cost includes the time it takes for the SLP to trial different devices and vocabularies to properly select a device for the child, write a report supporting the equipment selection, and prove medical necessity.
**Due to the in-depth nature of this type of evaluation, your child must be attending speech therapy for a minimum of 3 months prior to the evaluation. **
